Regional College Basketball Programs Building Toward Conference Play
Coaches across central New Hampshire's college programs say a strong non-conference showing has raised expectations for the season ahead.
College basketball programs across central New Hampshire say a stronger than expected non-conference schedule has raised cautious optimism heading into conference play, with several teams posting records that exceed preseason projections built around rosters with significant year-over-year turnover.
Coaches credit improved depth on the bench for the early success, noting that teams able to rotate fresher legs through a demanding early-season travel schedule have generally outperformed programs relying heavily on a small core of starters. Several programs have also pointed to improved three-point shooting efficiency as a key factor separating this year's results from prior seasons.
Athletic department officials say attendance at home games has ticked upward alongside the improved records, a pattern they hope continues into conference play when rivalry games historically draw the largest crowds of the season regardless of team performance.
